Adair T. (Snap) Knapwurst, age 93 of Wild Rose, WI passed away peacefully on October 14, 2023 at Hamilton Park Place Assisted Living, Portage, WI. He was born November 25, 1929 in Omro, WI to Arthur and Vera (Thomas) Knapwurst.
Snap graduated from Omro High School in 1948. After high school, he spent several years driving a truck hauling milk and sand. In 1954, he enlisted in the US Air Force and served until 1958, which included a year at Thule Air Force Base in Thule, Greenland. He married Mary Lou Covill on May 5, 1962, and they were married for 58 years until her death in 2021. Snap was employed as a machinist by Rockwell International in Oshkosh for 30 years. After retirement, he and Mary Lou spent time traveling the country and wintering in Florida where they made many friends. He loved playing bingo, watching bull riding, gardening and woodworking. He especially enjoyed ‘Cod and Cow’ on Fridays with his family.
Snap is survived by his two daughters, Jean Ross of Wilmington, DE and Joan (Mark) Fiene of Rio, WI; and sister, Laura Frye. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou, and his son, Thomas; his parents; brother, Lowell; sister, Beth; mother-in-law, Olive (Backes) Covill; father-in-law, Donald Covill.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on October 24, 2023 at the Holly Funeral Home in Wild Rose. A visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Following the service, a committal service will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery, County Rd AA, Wild Rose.
