Berlin mascot remains Indians

Berlin Area School District board members were presented with the results of two surveys during the Jan. 28 school board meeting.

One was a response to a postcard survey of school district households where 1,237 votes, or 90 percent, were in support to retain the Berlin Indian name and logo with only 108 votes, or 8 percent, to change. The other survey was from grades 9 through 12 students where 409 votes, or 92 percent, favored keeping the Indian name and 32 votes were in support to change it.

Bob Eidahl, district superintendent, said the survey vote turnout was larger than the typical turnout for regular elections.
