Pioneers shut out Hilltoppers, 6-0

The Westfield baseball team recorded their first win of the season when they hosted the non-conference Cambria-Friesland Hilltoppers on March 29 for their home opener.

Recording 6 runs over seven innings, the Pioneers were able to hold their visitors with help from solid pitching from the mound. Westfield started to take control at the bottom of the third inning recording 3 runs, followed by 1 run in the fourth and finally shutting down the visiting Hilltoppers with 2 runs in the bottom of the sixth.

Kaden Roberts was the winning pitcher for Westfield, pitching 4 innings, tallying 2 hits, 30 strikes and 7 strikeouts on 40 pitches. Assisting was Camden Stampfl who pitched 3 innings, recording 1 hit, 27 strikes and 4 strikeouts on 40 pitches.
