Wild Rose wins over Rosholt, 79-55

Williams scores 34 points in playoff win

It was another convincing win for the Wild Rose boys basketball team when they cooled the sting of the Rosholt Hornets 79-55 at home during the second round of the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association Division 5 playoffs on March 2.

“Our energy and effort tonight was amazing,” stated Wild Rose Head Coach Jim Komp. “I’m so proud of how well we competed on the glass. Sometimes when Caleb Williams gets in that mode, you just have to sit back and enjoy it.”

The closest the game ever was the first half of play. Even with a little more than 4 points remaining until halftime, the score was four points apart, with Wild Rose leading. The half would end with a good marginal lead for the Wildcats.

Wild Rose had five scorers working the court and the boards in the half, with Caleb Williams rolling up 17 points which included two 3-pointers and 3 of 3 free throws. Alec VandeCastle and Travis Jansen had a good half as well with 10 points each, with VandeCastle going 2 of 2 at the free throw line. David Lauritzen came up with a 3-pointer to help create a 41-26 lead at the half.
