The Wautoma Lady Hornets are entering the new year with a 9-2 overall record this season following their holiday tournament on Dec. 27 and 28.
Wautoma opened up the tournament with an 85-58 win over the Colby Lady Hornets on Dec. 27.
Alayna Panich topped the scoreboard for Wautoma, putting up 28 points and recording 7 assists and 4 rebounds. Aspen Groskreutz had 22 points on the board over Colby and made 2 steals. Montana Groskreutz followed with 17 points, including 6 rebounds and 3 assists. Madalyn Meyer scored 8 points and Bryn Gunderson and Ally Phillips each with 5 points.
The Lady Hornets moved on to the face off against Marinette in the championship game on Dec. 28. The team fell just short of the win with a close score of 35-37.
This leaves the team at 9-2 overall to end 2023. The team returns to action on Thursday, Jan. 4 at Wisconsin Dells.
