Gary Edward LaPorte

Gary Edward LaPorte, age 79, of Richford / Coloma went to his Lord on Thursday, October 5, 2023. He was born at home in Hancock on December 11, 1943, to Vernon and Anna (Scharf) LaPorte. On June 18, 1966, he married Viola Doty in Berlin. Gary worked for Speed Queen and Del Monte as a maintenance mechanic until his retirement. Gary loved to serve his Lord, enjoyed his bible studies and service to the church and the community. He enjoyed fishing and loved spending time with his grandchildren. Gary’s devotion and service to his family and community will be eternally felt and missed.
Gary is survived by his wife, Viola LaPorte; daughters, Rebecca (Brian) Brooks, Michelle LaPorte, Jessica (Michael) Huss; grandchildren, Kayla, Kathy, Sara, Melissa, Alexandra, Daniel, Megan, Alexis; sisters, Nona Bliske, Diane Roloff; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Vernon LaPorte Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at Grace Lutheran Church, Hancock with burial to follow in Richford Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Thursday from 9:30 AM until the time of services at 11:00 AM.
