Wild Rose Village Board approved street resurfacing project funding

The Wild Rose Village Board approved the funding for street resurfacing projects after opening bids during the July 12 meeting. Bids were opened from three entities which submitted them for several streets in the village. After much consideration the board approved a bid from American Asphalt providing the work is done by Nov. 30, or before winter. The areas to be resurfaced are Division, High, and Front Streets, as well as Carey Avenue. The funding for these projects will be borrowed, not to exceed $175,000. In other business the board viewed the proofs and estimates for the naming of the boardwalk and gazebo. The cost of two bronze plaques for the boardwalk and one for the gazebo, $779.99 will come out of the general fund. The opening of a CD for the Patterson Memorial Library in the amount of $56,059.13 for 13 months at 4.75% was approved. The board went on to approve a donation of $615 which was left in the Martha Jones Enrichment account to Wild Rose Days in honor of the sesquicentennial celebration. The board also approved a $150 donation to the Wild Rose Classic Car Show. Operator’s licenses were approved for Julie Marshall and Rebecca Schubert. It was noted that the village was awarded a grant from the Wisconsin Election Commission for the purchase of a new absentee ballot envelopes. Library board updates provided the news that 100 attended the Dinofest as part of the summer reading program. A dedication of the Jerry Apps Reading Room at the library will be held from 2-4 p.m. on Friday, July 21 with Apps signing books, and refreshments being served. The next regular Village Board meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 2.
