MAE J. BERTOTTO

Mae J. Bertotto, age 89, of Plainfield, WI, passed away peacefully under hospice care on Sunday, July 9, 2023 at Bethany Home in Waupaca.  She was born April 18, 1934 in Merrill, WI; daughter of Paul and Emma (Sonaguard) Neumann.  On February 9, 1952, Mae married Edward Bertotto at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Almond and together they shared 63 years of marriage before his passing on April 14, 2015.  She worked for over 20 years as the admittance clerk in the ER department at St. Michael’s Hospital in Stevens Point.  Mae enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, writing in her journals, and spending time with her family.  Mae and Ed were “snowbirds” for 15 years and resided in Lakeland, FL during the winter months.  She will be dearly missed by all of her loving family and friends. Mae is survived by five children Pamela Jakubiak of Duluth, MN, Patricia (Daniel) Hutkowski of Plainfield, Paul (Jeanette) Bertotto of Plainfield, Christine (James) Fazen of Wautoma, and Michael (Andrea) Bertotto of Chilton; a daughter-in-law Laura Bertotto of Plainfield; her sister Nancy Turner of Bancroft; and also by 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren (with two more on the way), numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Paul and Emma Neumann; her husband Edward Bertotto; a son Brian Bertotto; her sister Connie (Neumann) Swanson; four brothers Don, Less, Ray, and Earl Neumann; and a brother-in-law Alvick Turner. A Funeral Service for Mae will be on Thursday, July 13 at 12 Noon at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Almond, WI.  Pastor Dave Ficken will officiate.  A visitation will be held on Wednesday evening, July 12th, from 5 – 8 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church and again on Thursday morning from 11 – 12 p.m. at the church.  Burial will take place following the service on Thursday at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Almond.  The Hardell – Holly Funeral Home of Almond is assisting the family with arrangements.
