Kiwanis hears presentation on Welcomed

The Wautoma Kiwanis Club welcomed Bruce Williams and Scott Kingston to their weekly Thursday morning meeting held at Culvers on Nov. 30 to speak about Foster Care. Kingston and Williams, along with their families, are foster parents and have found a calling to help children in need and also to help other foster parents. During their presentation, they said in Wisconsin there are 7,500 children in the foster care system. About 70 percent of the children are able to go back to their birth parents but 30 percent stay in foster care in the hopes they can one day be adopted in a family of their own. Williams and Kingston have done a lot of research and talked to others in different states to see what they are doing in an effort to make foster care even better for all involved. Learning of a program that was a proven model in Georgia they decided to start the same model in Wisconsin.
