Judith “Judy” Ann Meier, age 84, of Mount Morris, passed away peacefully and unexpectedly Thursday morning, May 25, 2023 at her home. She was born October 22, 1938 in Milwaukee, the daughter of John and Dorothea (Ruedisili) Broeksma. She married William E. Meier on August 5, 1961 at Walther Memorial Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. Judy attended Walther Memorial Elementary and was a graduate of Milwaukee Lutheran High School. She attended Valparaiso University on a Wheatridge Scholarship and majored in social work. She received a Masters Degree in Social Work from UW-Milwaukee. Judy was employed by Lutheran Social Services primarily in group/preventive counseling with Southside Wellness Project focusing on pre-marriage counseling, assertiveness training and grief counseling. She served on the Waushara County Prevention Council, facilitated a monthly book club at Patterson Memorial Library in Wild Rose and volunteered at Second Time Around Resale Shop in Berlin. Judy was a member of Capitol Drive Lutheran Church, Walther Memorial Lutheran, St. Mark’s Lutheran, GPLC, Chapel in the Pines in Mount Morris and First English Lutheran Church in Poy Sippi. Judy was an avid letter writer, reader and quilter. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, baking and travel. She is survived by her husband Rev. William “Bill” Meier; one daughter, Julie Beaudoin; one son, Paul (Cathy) Meier; five grandchildren: Nicole (Tyler) Hust, Stephanie (fiancé Matt Glad) Beaudoin, Joshua Beaudoin, Bria (Trevor) Aston and Jessa Meier; four great grandchildren: Landon Beaudoin-Massari, Kennedy Hust, Cash Hust and River Aston; two sisters: Doreen (David) Lee and Kathryn “Kitty” Liescheidt. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Judy is preceded in death by her daughter, Amy (Meier) Otto; and by her parents. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Poy Sippi with Rev. Rebekah Tarras officiating. Visitation will be held at the church in Poy Sippi on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services. Further services will be held on Friday, June 2, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Greenfield Park Lutheran Church, 1236 S. 115th St., West Allis with Rev. Fred Reaman officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday at the church in West Allis from 9:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Valhalla Memorial Park in Milwaukee.
