Ladycats finish off regular season with win over Lady Indians 12-7

The Wild Rose Ladycats finished off their regular softball season with a 12-7 victory over the Berlin Lady Indians. Berlin was held to just a base hit from J. Nigbor in the first three innings of play, while a teammate had a sacrifice. Wild Rose picked up 3 runs in the first inning alone as four batters drew walks and Cali Havlovitz hit a double. The second inning brought 3 more runs for a 6-0 Wild Rose lead. Three batters were walked and another hit by a pitch, while Abbie McCardell came up with a base hit. Just 1 run was added in the third inning for a 7-0 advantage for the hosts, with Keyva Kingston, Laney Havlovitz, and C. Havlovitz each getting base hits, while another teammate drew a walk. The visitors got on the board with 2 runs in the fourth, 7-2, as M. Helmuth doubled, a batter walked, and another reached on an error. Addie Smykal had a base hit for Wild Rose in the inning. B. Bartol came up with a base hit in the fifth inning for Berlin, while Wild Rose added 4 runs to its’ lead, 11-2, as McCardell, Ellie Butzin, and Smykal each had base hits. Three batters drew walks and another had a sacrifice. The visitors picked up a run in the sixth inning, 11-3, as M. Billing, R. Harmsen, and C. Bartol each had base hits. The hosts responded with a run, 12-3, with 3 walks and a hit by a pitch. Wild Rose’s lead diminished in the seventh inning when 4 runs crossed the plate for Berlin when B. Bartol, Nigbor, L. Sobieski, and Harmsen each had base hits. Another batter drew a walk as Wild Rose’s win seemed a little threatened, but the hosts held on for the 12-7 victory. Cali Havlovitz had 2 hits including a double, and 2 runs for Wild Rose. Abbie McCardell had 2 hits and 3 runs, while Addie Smykal had 2 hits. Laney Havlovitz struck out 4 Berlin batters and walked just 2. J. Nigbor had 2 hits and 2 runs for Berlin, as B. Bartol had 2 hits and 1 run, and R. Harmsen 2 hits. M. Helmuth had a double and a run. S. Bartels struck out 2 Wild rose batters and walked 14.
