Wild Rose Kiwanis to host “Those Were the Days” May 14

Wild Rose Kiwanis is delighted to announce that it is bringing back William Florian’s “Those Were the Days” program for a special Mother’s Day concert Sunday, May 14, at 2 p.m. at the Wild Rose High School Auditorium. The former lead singer for the New Christy Minstrels, William rocked the house with songs from the 60’s on his last appearance. His upbeat, family-friendly show is sure to entertain with his original songs as well as hits by John Denver, Neil Diamond, The Mamas & The Papas, and more. Advance “Those Were the Days” tickets are available at the Waushara Argus office in Wautoma, Patterson Memorial Library in Wild Rose, Office Outfitters in Waupaca, and from Wild Rose Kiwanis members. Prices are kept low to make this an affordable family event. Except for 2020 and 2021’s pandemic years, the Kiwanis have sponsored a concert each spring since 2007. Donations are collected for the event so that 100% of the ticket proceeds go back to the community. Each year, a portion has gone to support the arts in the Wild Rose School District, including summer music camp scholarships and equipment for the art and music departments. The Spring 2022 Wisconsin Singers’ concert receipts funded (along with a generous anonymous donation) the Fall 2022 Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestra performances. The entire Wild Rose Middle and High School enjoyed a free concert during the school day, and the public performance was held in the evening. The community’s support has made the concerts a cherished tradition of music appreciation. There is nothing like the feeling of joining friends and neighbors to enjoy live music in your own community, while knowing that your ticket purchase is helping the community grow stronger and better. Wild Rose Kiwanis hopes you plan to attend on Mother’s Day, May 14, and make sure to bring your mom.
