Wild Rose Village Board approves change in garbage/recyclable pick up schedule

Subhead
The Wild Rose Village Board approved a change in garbage/recyclables pick up days during an April 5 meeting. The Village had received a request from its’ garbage/recyclable pick up service to switch from Tuesdays to Wednesdays. After some discussion the switch was approved, with the need to have notices regarding the matter sent out to the residents and businesses. Sandy Batten of the Wild Rose Lions spoke to the board regarding the fees assessed when reserving Roberts Park. In this case it is concerned the use of the park for the annual Easter Egg Hunt. Batten was informed that everyone who reserves the park is treated equally, and that if a community service organization wants the fee for reserving the park waived, all that’s needed is to contact the Village, whether in writing or in person, in order to have the board act on the request. The board did go on to waive the fees for the Lions for the 2024 egg hunt, and beyond that as long as the request arrives in written form. A school resource officer contract with the Wild Rose Schools was approved for 15 hrs/week, but it has to be clarified as to when the village police officer(s) will start servicing the schools. The board went on to approve: •The paving of an extension of the parking lot at Roberts Park at a cost of nearly $6,000. •The combining of two certificates of Deposit for the Patterson Memorial Library Fund into one at the Farmers State Bank with a 4.05 percent APR. •The continuance of purchasing plaques for naming the Boardwalk and Gazebo at Roberts Park. •Board Committee appointments. •Reappointments of Beth Osicka, Leah Werch, and David Keller to the Library Board. •Operator’s Licenses for Vicki Mitchell, Sandra Hoerning, Susan Cavanaugh and Jarrod Sinnard, all for Family Dollar. The historical marker for the mill is reportedly getting smaller than what was projected because of the cost. Circulation has been up at the library, as well as monetary donations. The next regular board meeting will take place on Wednesday, May 3.
