Things just do not “Happen”
To the Editor:
A favorite musical of mine is “The Phantom of the Opera”, wherein Carlotta screams “These things don’t just happen!” This applies to most of life’s events. They just do not happen. This is the crux of The Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign. If people don’t get involved, nothing happens.
We are very fortunate here in Waushara County – people do get involve. In Waushara County, well over 700 hours are expended by our citizens to make it happen, with over 400 hours of bell ringing in Wautoma, 190+ hours of volunteering in Wild Rose, and a bunch of hours in Redgranite, Plainfield, and Coloma.
The results: with 90 percent of your money donations staying in Waushara County, (an amount of $33,000) $29,000, year to date, has been returned to the needs of our citizens.
Again, this just does not “happen”. However, just like everything else around you, the need continues. This year, we again need your help to continue.
We need not only volunteer bell ringers, but also need citizens or groups of citizens to join our effort to organize bell ringers. If you, or your group, would like to dedicate some time towards this mission, please call Roger Charette at (920) 787-4250, or for Wild Rose area, call Linda Steffen at (920) 622-3088.
We especially need additional volunteers through-out Waushara County (there are no paid positions in our county). Please remember, “it doesn’t just happen.”
Yours in service to Salvation Army,
Roger Charette, Volunteer, and Linda Steffen, Volunteer.
