Tri-County Penguins fall short to Port Edwards Blackhawks

The Tri-County Penguins were visited by their conference opponent, the Port Edwards Blackhawks, for a Jan. 3 boys’ basketball game at Tri-County High School.

Port Edwards opened the game strong, with a 3-pointer by Brynden Beck putting the Blackhawks on the board first. The Blackhawks were quick to score another 2 points, giving the team a 5-0 advantage within the first two minutes of play. Luis Garcia managed to steal the ball for the Penguins, making way for a 3-pointer from Jairo Monry. This put the Penguins on the board, behind only by 2 points. The Blackhawks were quick to recover, making 2 and 3-pointers. Sam Raboin was able to help the Penguins score a 3-pointer with 6:35 still left in the half. With only 30 seconds 3-pointer from Nate Gibbs gave Port Edwards a 42-14 lead going into the second half.

 

The Blackhawks continued to play strong going into the second half. The Penguins worked their defense to keep Port Edwards from scoring. Raboin was able to get in another 3-pointer with only a minute left in the game.

Overall Tri-County recorded 23 rebounds, 7 assists, and 6 steals.
