Wild Rose School Board appoints Scholarship Committee members

Prior to the Wild Rose School Board meeting on Dec. 8 a brief Scholarship Foundation meeting was held.

The Wild Rose Scholarship Foundation directors received a report from the treasurer. Afterwards, a selection of Scholarship Committee members was appointed and approved. Directors Chris Sorenson, Andrea Havlovitz, and Craig Hayes were among them. Teachers Rebecca Mielke, Mikayla Mixdorf, Steve Yeska, and Jason Boquist, and MS/HS Principal Amanda Bronk were also included.

 

The next Foundation meeting will take place at 7 p.m. on Apr. 13.

The school board received a presentation of the MS/HS course offerings for the 2023-24 school year, including online courses. The course catalog for 2023-2024 was approved.

In considering possibilities of volunteer high school boys’ basketball coaches, the board approved Jake Thompson, Brian Erickson, Josh Erickson, and Evan Erickson to assist whenever possible.

The selection of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory as the spring play met with the board’s approval.

Wayne Roemer was appointed the district’s delegate to the Jan. 18, WASB Delegate Assembly for the State Education Convention to be held in Milwaukee.

The board approved a leave of absence request from Emily Battenberg.

The board went on to review the 2021-22 district and school report cards. Overall, the district was found to be rated as having exceeded expectations.

Wild Rose fifth grader, Emily Kapp, was noted for being a first place winner when she participated on the math matters team in a competition held in November. First graders participated in an annual Thanksgiving Day feast, and special needs students were treated to a holiday party hosted by the Wild Rose Lions. A Key Club involving more than 70 elementary students met earlier this month for some building fun.

 

During the MS/HS principal’s report it was mentioned that Marissa Jewell was one of eight students competing in a FVTC High School Culinary Showdown in the pastry/cake division.

It was also mentioned that Sam Kingston was one of twenty state-level nominees for the national U.S. Presidential Scholars Program.

A family trivia night will be held at 7 p.m. on Dec. 21, hosted by the Class of 2023.

The next board meetings will take place at 7 p.m. on Thursdays, Jan. 12 (Jan. 26 if needed), Feb. 9, and March 9.
