During the Wautoma Common Council meeting at City Hall on June 20th, a resolution was passed to rename Lagoon Road to Bobby DeLaura Way (a road leading to the Wautoma Rod and Gun Club).  The idea of renaming the road was introduced by Dave Algrem to recognize Bobby DeLaura for all the work he has done for the Wautoma Rod and Gun Club.

The resolution stated that Bobby DeLaura is a charter member of the Wautoma Rod and Gun Club, he was always willing to work the sign-up booth during trap shooting events, and he would always make the Rod and Gun Club grounds available for outside group to utitilize.

In addition he would be there for events held at the Gun Club, including the youth pheasant and turkey learn-to-hunt programs in cooperation with the local Department of Natural Resources employees.

The council also passed a resolution for a seven-year streets, water, and sewer capital improvement plan for 2022-2028 to provide elected officials a tool for evaluating and prioritizing projects on the basis of merit and urgency.

Tommy Bohler, City Administrator, submitted three representatives from the council to the Waushara County Building & Grounds for the downtown courthouse transition.  They include Eric Tratar, Mayor John Nixon, and Robert Cayer.  Bohler also said he is working with Bug Tussel Wireless for a potential cell tower within the city.  He also said he met with Marchant Schmidt, Inc, regarding CDBG grant to assist with job creation at their newly purchased facility on Tower Drive.

Mayor Nixon reported the Open Air Market vendors have been doing well and they are looking at attracting more vendors.  The market will soon be moved to the WWII location for better visibility and access.

The council approved Matt Elliot to fill the vacancy on the Zoning Board of Appeals and the Parks Committee.

The next meeting of the Wautoma Common Council will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, July 12 at City Hall.
