Al-Anon Corner
Our opening of the meeting includes saying the Serenity prayer. For those of you that do not know it, here it is:
“God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference.”
Now, when a crisis arises, I know to hold it up to the light of the serenity prayer and detach from the pain of it so I can deal with it effectively.
In accepting the things I cannot change, I know it means others first and foremost. For me, it was very difficult to accept.
Courage to change the things I can, helps me to work on the things I can change. Myself first and then work hard at the things that need to be changed. And the wisdom to know the difference. It means “things,” not people.
I keep going to meetings, because there is so much for me to learn. We meet every Monday at noon at Hope Lutheran Church, Wautoma and Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m. in the CAPsell building, Wautoma.
We are a community service, come join us.
Peace,
Debbie W.
