Accidents reported in Waushara County

5/26/2021: A two-vehicle accident occurred at 4:29 p.m. on STH21 eastbound in the Town of Marion. Lester Price, 81, Pine River, crossed the centerline and went into the eastbound lane. Price made contact with the driver side vehicle driven by Darren Marmes, 25, Manitowoc, breaking the mirrors off of both vehicles. When asked, Price stated he was swatting as a bee that had come inside of the vehicle. Price did not have insurance.

5/27/2021: A one-vehicle accident occurred at 9:29 a.m. on CTHQ southbound in the Town of Aurora. Hannah Silloway, 18, Berlin, drove off roadway into west ditch, over corrected and came out of the ditch, crossing the center line into the oncoming lane of travel, then into the east ditch where it overturned multiple times. Silloway stated the wind blew her off the roadway and stated she was going around 65 MPH when advised deputy believed she was going to fast.

5/28/2021: A one-vehicle accident occurred at 4 a.m. on Blackhawk Ave in the Town of Leon. James Brisky, 21, Port Washington, failed to stop at the stop sign and proceeded through the intersection, entering the south ditch on Blackhawk Ave and striking a tree.

5/28/2021: A two-vehicle accident occurred at 2:18 p.m. on and intersection in the Town of Hancock. Kathleen Opalinski, 82, Hancock, was east bound and Gary Adams, 63, Plover, was northbound. Opalinski stopped at a stop sign on the east side of the intersection of CTH C and CTH V and then proceeded through and struck the rear driver’s tandem of Adams semi-trailer with their front passenger side. Opalinski stated they were wearing a seatbelt and did not see Adams approaching the intersection. Adams was also wearing a seatbelt and said they saw Opalinski stopped at the stop sign and thought they were going to wait. Opalinski began proceeding through the stop sign Adams swerved to avoid the collision but was struck by Opalinski causing damage to his rear tire and rim. Opalinski had severe front end damage, primarily on the passenger side. Opalinski was transported via EMS to Wausau for possible injuries.

5/29/2021: A two-vehicle accident occurred at 1:30 p.m. on Clark St in the Village of Plainfield. Unit 2 was legally parked on the side of the roadway on Clark St. An unknown vehicle struck the rear portion of Unit 2. Unit 1 did not stay on the scene and left without reporting the crash. Unit 2 suffered functional damage to the body of the vehicle. Unit 2 owner noticed damage to vehicle after they had left the scene and later reported to law enforcement.

5/30/2021: A one-vehicle accident occurred at 12:10 p.m. on CTHE southbound in the Town of Warren. David Boehning, 38, Oshkosh, was on a motorcycle from Redgranite to Berlin. He stated he was coming up on the curve and was moving faster than what his skill level was. Boehning knew he was going to crash so he allowed the motorcycle to cross the center line and entire northbound lane before entering the northbound ditch. Motorcycle laid on its left side. Boehning separated from motorcycle and continued to slide. Motorcycle was also sliding, went airborne, and came back down next to where Boehning came to rest. Boehning was wearing heavy leather jacket with multiple layers of clothes underneath, long pants, and helmet with full face shield. Boehning said he recently got the motorcycle and did not have insurance on it.

5/31/2021: A one-vehicle accident occurred at 5:05 p.m. on CTHZ northbound in the Town of Marion. Eric Haka, 54, Redgranite, was on a motorcycle and crossed the centerline, and skidded sideways. Haka slid, coming to a rest in the west ditch, facing southbound.

5/29/2021: At 8:13 p.m., Theodore Kmiotek, 67, Woodridge, IL, on STH152, Eastbound, Town of Morris.

5/31/2021: At 5:20 a.m., Jennifer Walsh, 49, Waupaca, on STH22, Northbound, Town of Wautoma.

6/1/2021: At 6:46 a.m., Rigel Findley, 50, Wautoma, on STH21, Westbound, Town of Richford.
