On Dec. 10, the Waushara Area Chamber of Commerce hosted a small, distanced gathering to recognize the 2020 award recipients.
The Coloma Area Historical Society was named Non-Profit of the Year and was applauded for their involvement in the Coloma Community.
This year, Karen Giese received the WACC’s Citizen of the Year Award. Karen was recognized for her commitment to Coloma and Waushara County for over 30 years and for all of the work she has done for the various service groups she belongs to.
The evening ended with Debbie Placek, owner of Ideal Accounting, receiving the Business Person of the Year Award. Debbie was highly praised for her tremendous growth in her business since moving to the area, the help and guidance she provides to her clients as well as non-clients, and her countless hours of volunteering for the Chamber’s Music in the Park, Freedom Fest, and Breakfast with Santa events.
In lieu of this year’s Annual Banquet, the Waushara Area Chamber of Commerce board decided to host a smaller, socially distanced group of the 2020 winners. Gary LeBouton, of LeBouton Photography, filmed the award ceremony and the Chamber will be sending it out to the membership via email.
