Lady Pioneers lose in close game against Mauston

The Lady Pioneers went up against Mauston on Westfield home turf on Oct. 8. The Lady Pioneers played a good game but Mauston took the win in three matches.

The first game was looking good early on for Westfield. An impressive kill from Salina Warren put the hosts up 5 – 3. Mauston kept the game close with their ace serves, tying the two teams at 7 – 7. The Lady Pioneers did manage to get the ball back, but Mauston had strong blockers. The win eventually went in favor of Mauston, winning 25 – 12.

Mauston took the lead in the second game of the night, but Warren managed to get the ball back for the Lady Pioneers. Maddie Chappel’s serves put Westfield in the lead 8 – 6. Micaela Arndt kept the ball going and had 13 digs throughout the night. Westfield and Mauston were neck and neck throughout most of the second game, but Mauston secured the win of the second game, 18 – 25.

The third game brought some hope for the Lady Pioneers. Another good kill from Warren brought Westfield up 5 – 3, with Trista Drew getting them an additional two points. Mauston fought back with good serves. The Lady Pioneers kept up, keeping it close with their opponent. The game ended in favor of Mauston once again, winning the third game 25 – 19.

 

Micaela Arndt helped the team with her 13 digs. Maddie Chappell was able to contribute four ace serves and five assists. Salina Warren ended the night with one block and five kills, as well as Trista Drew having five kills.
