Al-Anon Corner

Before Al-Anon I swore I was going insane. The more I tried to help the problem drinker the worse it got. I would try to get him out of jam after jam...not realizing I was dealing with something bigger than the both of us. And each time he would promise he would not do it again. Each time he would do it again.

It wasn’t until I went to Al-Anon that I heard that it was my will getting in the way. I had to learn to get off his back. Leave his consequences for him to take care of and to take care of my own responsibilities and leave his for him. It was not easy, as I felt it was my job to fix things. I was the enabler, helping this to continue.
