Waushara County accidents reported

9/01/18: A one-vehicle accident occurred at 9 p.m. at the intersection of 2nd Ave and Aspen Ave, Town of Plainfield. Alison Joy Caulfield, 36, Port Washington, was making a left-hand turn from the stop sign. Caulfield became distracted by her dog and drove off the roadway into a ditch. Caulfield left the scene with her children and the accident was reported the next morning. No injuries were reported.


9/01/18: A two-vehicle accident occurred at 2 a.m. on Cumberland Rd, Town of Warren. Rebecca A. Akin, 47, Redgranite, was traveling southbound on CR-EE. Akin attempted a left-hand turn to travel eastbound on Cumberland Road; however, Akin was traveling too fast for the conditions and entered the south ditch of Cumberland Road. As Akin traveled through the ditch line, her vehicle struck a dual axle utility trailer owned by Stanley W. Waters, 44, Redgranite, causing disabling damage to both. Akin drove away from the crash scene for approximately five-miles before the vehicle would no longer run. Akin did have a phone to call for a ride, but did not notify law enforcement of the crash. Citations for hit and run-property adjacent to highway, failure to keep vehicle under control, and deviating from land of traffic were issued.


9/02/18: A one-vehicle accident occurred at 2:19 p.m. on E Long Lake Rd, Town of Saxeville. Clayton C. Mules, 20, Madison, was negotiating a turn, lost control of the vehicle, entered the ditch, and rolled over. The driver admitted that he was going too fast for the curve. No injuries were reported, but citations for non-registration of auto, etc., failure to keep vehicle under control, violate absolute sobriety law, and operate motor vehicle w/o proof of insurance were issued.

9/03/18: A one-vehicle accident occurred at 10:56 p.m. on I39 southbound, Town of Plainfield. Anna M. Garbis, 51, Westfield, was traveling southbound on Interstate 39 when she lost control of her vehicle on the wet roadway and struck the guardrail face on the median side of the roadway. Then she spun around and struck the guardrail again with the rear of her vehicle. Garbis pulled her vehicle to the shoulder of the roadway.
