Joan “Jo” Shelby, age 79, of Wautoma, passed away Monday evening, Sept. 10, 2018 at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center, Neenah.

   She was born June 30, 1939 in Saint Cloud, MN, the daughter of Stanley L. and Joan (Solberg) Mathis.  She married Harry Shelby on Aug. 18, 1957 in Wonewoc, WI.  He preceded her in death on Oct. 23, 1996.


   Joan was a kind and gentle lady who enjoyed smothering everyone with her love.  She will be remembered for her love of family, puzzles, cards, bingo, board games, knitting and crocheting.  Most of all she loved to make family and friends smile and laugh.

   She is survived by her three daughters, Joanne Lynn Sorenson, Helen (James L. Ruelle Sr.) Henke, Ada Nelsa Mae “Shelby” (Jay) Ottenson; her sons, Stanley Shelby and Edward Shelby; further survived by other relatives and friends.

   She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Harry Shelby.
