Mary T. Lachelt, age 69, Hortonville, passed away on Sept. 7 at ThedaCare Appleton Medical Center from pancreatic cancer after a two-and-a-half-year battle. She was born on June 10, 1949 in Green Bay, daughter of the late Elmer and Ruth (Johannes) Lachelt. Mary retired from Curwood after 38 years in 2013. She loved spending time up north at White Lake with her dog Tai walking in the woods. She also loved fishing for trout and blue gill in the spring of the year. Playing pool was Mary’s passion.

She is survived by her spouse, Sue Owen, Hortonville; brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Dan (Nancy) Owen, Minocqua; nephew: Byron Owen, DePere; and her dog Tai whom she loved so much.

A memorial service for Mary will be held at 7 p.m. at the Borchardt & Moder Funeral Home in Hortonville on Thursday, Sept. 13. A gathering of family and friends will take place at the funeral home on Thursday from 5 p.m. until the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.

Please wear any Packer, Brewers, or pool attire to her gathering to celebrate her favorite sports.

I got the password so now I am free of pain and suffering. I fought hard and gave it everything I had right to the end.

A special thank you to Mary’s friends and Sue for being there through her struggle. And also the 7th floor and Dr’s and nursing staff at Theda Care Appleton: Dr. Conkright, Crystal Guttman and Laura and crew.
