Wautoma Common Council hears update on 2019 street projects

MSA Professionals En-gineer Todd Trader attended the Sept. 10 Common Council meeting to update the council on 2019 street improvement plans, which include West River, Green Meadow, Valley View, and Sandcrest Streets.

Earlier in the year, the city was granted $272,233 in funding for the West River Street improvement project. The grant was awarded by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation Municipal Street Improvement Dis-cretionary (MSID) Program.  Trader told the council that the project is a rehabilitation project rather than a complete reconstruction project, al-though a portion of the project may need to be completely reconstructed.

The project will be to reconstruct approximately 1,000 feet and recondition approximately 1,550 feet of the existing roadway of West River Street and improve storm water drainage from 16th Avenue to S. Cambridge Street. Although the bidding process is expected to take place in March 2019, the construction is expected to run from June to August, while school is not in session.

In conjunction with the project, the council approved a contract with MSA for $103,100 for design and construction engineering of the project and a contract for geotechnical (soil borings) for $2,390. The total cost of the project is $540,700.
