Wautoma/Wild Rose Cross County opens season at Westfield Aug. 23
On Aug. 23, the Wautoma/Wild Rose Cross Country teams opened their 2018 season at the 10 school Westfield Cross Country Invitational. The Wautoma/Wild Rose Lady Harriers placed sixth out of 10 schools. Wisconsin Dells won the Girls Meet with 40 points, followed by Reedsburg with 63 points, Lodi 91, Portage 107, Wautoma/Wild Rose 108, Tomah 158, Westfield 167, Rio/Fall River 182, Markesan 259, and Waupaca 271.
Delaney Salm led the Hornet/Wildcat Girls with a 13th place finish out of 66 runners. Kiana Julian placed 14th, MacKenzie Caves 18th, Amber Babcock 29th, Quaye Taivalmaa 34th, Carley Burt 45th, and Bailey Rheinheimer 46th.
The Hornet/Wildcat Girls Junior Varsity team placed 4th out of 10 schools led by Lily Erdman’s 17th place finish out of 45 runners. Marcel Buss finished 18th, Megan Miller 19th, Emma Chase 36th, and Esther Brooks 37th.
The Wautoma/Wild Rose Guy Harriers placed second out of 10 schools. Team scores were Tomah 53, Wautoma/Wild Rose 62, Portage 77, Wisconsin Dells 99, Waupaca 103, Lodi 137, Reedsburg 198, Rio/Fall River 248, and Westfield/Montello 269.
The Hornets/Wildcats were led by Kordell Woyak’s sixth place finish out of 66 runners. Lance Erdman finished eighth, Aidan Doherty 14th, Creedon Abraham 16th, Hayden Schwartzman 18th, James Barbarich 42nd, Ashton Abrams 57th, and Wyatt McComb 58th.
In the Junior Varsity race, the Hornet/Wildcat Boys finished first out of 10 schools. Matt Kapral placed third out of 67 runners, with Cavan Williams fifth, Corbin Francisco 13th, Garrik Kjentvet 18th, Ethan Sullivan 19th, Kane Cronkrite 25th, Jordan Daye 29th, James Barbarich 42nd, Ashton Abraham 57th, and Wyatt McComb 58th.
