Berlin Indians outplay Wautoma Hornets on 35-0
On a wet night in Wautoma, the Berlin Indians outplayed the Hornets to a final score of 35 to 0. The Hornets came out with intensity with its defense creating 2 first quarter turnovers, one on a fumble recovered by Dante Borland and the other on an interception by Ryan Lois. Unfortunately, the Wautoma offense was unable to capitalize.
Berlin scored on their next possession on a 30-yard pass play. Early in the 2nd quarter, the Hornet defense forced another fumble. This one was smothered by linebacker Tegan Sanders. Ryan Lois completed a pass to Michael Hernandez for 15-yards and a first down into Berlin territory, but the Hornets were then turned away by the Indians.
Twice before halftime, Berlin was able to punch it into the end zone. First, on a 21-yard run, then on a 9-yard pass. Max Bennett ran out the first half with a 30-yard kickoff return, but was tackled at midfield.
The second half was much the same as the first. The Hornet offense had some tough runs by Matt Kroll and Ryan Lois, while Ryan completed some passes to Kroll, Hernandez, and Matt Maciaga; however, penalties, mistakes, and a tough Berlin defense stifled the Hornet offense all night.
