Wild Rose School Board passes proposed annual budget for 2018-19 school year

The Wild Rose School District passed a proposed 2018-19 budget during the annual budget hearing and meeting held Aug. 13.

The tentative budget for the 2018-19 school year is $9,288,697, a $1,039,799.21 or 10.07 percent decrease from last year. District Administrator Craig Hayes explained the items that effected the budget the most.

The proposed tax levy became $5,574,289, a $47,472 or .86 percent increase, and this was approved for the upcoming school year. The proposed mil rate would be 7.860, a .06 or .769 percent increase, but is still below the state average.

During the meeting portion of the evening, Sandie Anderson was elected chairperson.

The reading of the 2017 annual meeting minutes was dispensed with.

The auditor’s and treasurer’s report read by Dave Williams and the Clerk’s report read by Kathy Williams were approved.

The school board salaries will remain the same for the upcoming school year: $70 per meeting for each member; $400/year for the Clerk; $225/year for the Treasurer; mileage reimbursed per the IRS rate.

The district was authorized to provide a student accident insurance for the 2018-19 school year.

In other business, it was mentioned that the school district is talking about getting the Pleasant View Elementary building and property ap-praised for a possible sale.

The next Annual Meeting will be held on Aug. 12, 2019 at 7 p.m.
