Redgranite Correctional supports Back to School Bash

Inmates and employees of the Redgranite Correctional Institute helped area students prepare for the upcoming school year. Proceeds of a recent inmate fundraiser and school supplies collected by the institute’s employees were recently delivered to members of the Back to School Bash committee. Accepting the donation are left to right committee members Auttum Powell, Justine Riesterer and Katie Peterson, and Redgranite Correctional Institute staff members Julie Kastein, Tracey Schroeder, and Michelle Sonnentag.

The Back to School Bash is coordinated by the Waushara County Department of Human Services and supported entirely through donations received from the community. The program is designed to help families who may be struggling to find the extra funds to purchase school supplies for their children. Qualifying families reside in Waushara County or have children attending a Waushara County school.

The Back to School Bash was held in the basement demonstration room of the Waushara County Courthouse, 209 S. Saint Marie St., Wautoma. Backpacks filled with school supplies were distributed from 8-11 am on a first-come first-serve basis. Proof of Waushara County residency or proof of school registration is required.
