Thedacare Medical Center Berlin honors nurses
Who knows how many nurses have cared for patients at the Berlin hospital since it opened in 1911, but ThedaCare Medical Center-Berlin wanted to honor them all in recognition of National Nurses Day, Sunday, May 6. To that end, the hospital hosted its 2nd Annual Nurses Day on Friday, May 4, to recognize all past and present nurses who have graced the halls of that facility. The event also served as a kick off to Employee Appreciation Week, which ThedaCare is celebrating system-wide this week, May 7-11. Pam Mork, director of Clinical Services at ThedaCare Medical Center-Berlin, organized the first local Nurses Day event in 2017 to celebrate the profession of nursing and to give recognition to retired nurses and those currently on staff at the hospital. She created the theme “Pride in the Past, Faith in the Future” as a way to share and preserve the history of the hospital as well as to look toward the future in nursing care. “These are exciting times at ThedaCare Medical Center-Berlin. Having joined the ThedaCare family in 2014, we wanted to celebrate that we are part of a new larger health-care system that brings opportunities we haven’t had before. Yet, at the same time we don’t want to forget our heritage. That’s important in a small community like ours,” Mork said.
