Sergeant Joey Rosin made a presentation to Wautoma Common Council at their regular monthly meeting on Jan. 11 explaining the new tactical vests the department will be obtaining to replace the ones purchased in 2013.
Sergeant Rosin had the new tactical vest and the present tactical vest on display at the council meeting to explain the benefits of the new vests. The present vests are cumbersome, heavy, and time consuming to put on. The new vests are half the weight, easy to get into, and all around a safer vest for officers and come with a 20 year guarantee. The company where the department is purchasing the vests from will do an even exchange so it will be at no cost to the department for the five new vests.
Administrator Tommy Bohler said that this is an equipment improvement and the department is making great strides in getting everything up to date.
In other business, Administrator Bohler, re-ported to the council that he sent in the well abandonment ordinance to the Department of Natural Resources; Mayor John Nixon, Council members, Aaron Grimm, Bob Cayer, and Pat King are seeking re-election in the April Primary; and boundary lines for the parking lot at Ste. Marie Street have been established.
The next regular meeting of the Wautoma Common Council will be held on Monday, Feb. 8, at 7:30 at Wautoma City Hall.
