Food Pantry receives grant for new pellet jacks

Since March of 2020 the Waushara County Food Pantry sourced, inventoried, weighed and distributed over 10 million pounds of food to Waushara County residents.  As a designated food hub for central WI, and now have a fleet of three trucks which expands the range from which they can source food as well as assistance they can offer the smaller area partners.

A dedicated corps of volunteers, approximately 42 per week, makes up 95% of the person hours required to make the Pantry function effectively. “We would not have met the challenges we faced without our exceptional group of volunteers and our community partners,” said Marty Lee, Director of the Waushara County Food Pantry.  The volunteers are primarily older and the pallet jacks help the pantry move product and protect our volunteers from injury.

Their growth and partnership with The Hunger Task Force, The Hunger Federation, Feeding America of Eastern WI,  the Community Foundation of Central WI and numerous county agencies, church and civic groups made  a successful COVID community response possible.

For the past year, WCFP has been working with many area partners and volunteers to run the mobile pantries which have served more than 2,400 families per week in addition to the two distribution days each week at the main location.  Please remember the mobile pantries are available to anyone who is impacted by the COVID-19 Pandemic.
