Pat Power and Julie Lesh will present live demonstrations Saturday, Sept. 4 in the Coloma Area Historical Society Carriage House during the final Coloma Craft and Flea Market being held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. that day in the Coloma Village Park.
The popular Schoolmarm Miss Penelope Patience Penny (aka Pat Power of Coloma) from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. will give tours of the carriage house from the standpoint of a late 1880’s one-room school teacher.
Julie Lesh of rural Westfield from 12:30 to 3 p.m. will speak of barbers, who not only cut hair - but performed serious medical procedures.
The CAHS 1870 Spalding Store Museum and Carriage House will also be open from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28; however, will close for the summer on Sept. 4.
The museum can be opened for school groups or other interested individuals, by appointment only.
The CAHS annual meeting and Cracker Barrel will be held at 5 p.m. meeting, 5:30 p.m. potluck meal, 6 p.m. Cracker Barrel program on Sunday, Oct. 10. More information will be available at a later date.
In the 2021 summer season, the CAHS sponsored three concerts, five craft and flea markets, four live demonstrations and one Library Reading Program day with 40 children and 18 adults in attendance to visit 7-station presentations.
