Wautoma Public Library plans upcoming events

Friday, Sept. 24, at 12 p.m.- Free Lunch & Learn: 19th Century Presidents from Jefferson to McKinley- “The Stuff you Didn’t Learn in School”. Tim Mutterer, American Historian, will share fun trivia about these 19th century presidents in his new 50- minute panorama presentation. There will be a light lunch catered by the Moose Inn and paid for by the Friends of the Library, Waushara Historical Society, and the Jones Memorial Fund. Racine Kringle and door prizes of wine, teddy bears, and books will be included. Please wear a mask if unvaccinated.

 

Saturday, Sept. 25, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.- Game Time -Join everyone at the library to play board games, socialize, and enjoy snacks. Learn and play this month’s featured game, BOSK (grow and nurture your tree) If you have a fun game you would like to share with others, the library encourages you to bring it along. This regular monthly event is geared toward individuals and families ages 9 and up. Please wear a mask if unvaccinated.

  Sept. 27 through Nov. 19- Fall into a Great Book. Join one of their challenges on Beanstack, read books, and earn tickets for raffle prizes.

Sept. 29 through Oct. 5- Stop at the library to learn about how bears prepare for winter and vote for the chunkiest bear. Last year’s chunkiest bear weighed approximately 1,400 pounds.

Tuesday, Oct. 5, from 2-5 p.m. – Youth ages 2-18 are encouraged to read to Paddy the Therapy Dog as part of their new Tail Wagging Reading Program. Participants will earn rewards from their Community Partners every five times they read to Paddy. Children will grow in their confidence and reading skills when they read to Paddy.

Tuesday, Oct. 5, at 5:30 p.m. - Natural Immunity Boosters- Wautoma Public Library’s Lifelong Learning 2.0 Series: Beyond Survival is continuing (after a very long hiatus) with a wellness presentation by Dr. TJ Rinaldi. Learn which natural supplements will boost your immunity and help keep you safe from viruses.

Wednesday, Oct. 6, at 10:30 a.m.- Join Xanthe for stories and activities. Storytime will be every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Please wear a mask if unvaccinated.

Visit the Maker Station in the library to grab Take & Make crafts and activities. New kits are added monthly and are available while supplies last.

Through a collaboration with the Waushara Department of Aging, the Wautoma Public Library now offers Elder Care Kits for check out. Each themed kit has multiple activities for caregivers and care recipients to work on together or that the care recipient may do on their own to offer the caregiver some respite. Kits may be checked out for three weeks and must be returned to the Wautoma Library’s Circulation Desk.
