Summer Reading begins at the Patterson Memorial Library

Subhead

Summer reading began on June 6 with the Summer Reading Program sign-up at the Patterson Memorial Library in Wild Rose.  “Summer Reading is very important for children, because it keeps their reading levels up so there is no ‘Summer Slump,’” observed Kent Barnard, Library Director.  “We also feel that having performers is both instructional and entertaining, it helps kids learn,” Barnard said.

“Kids of all ages can sign up and check out the prizes up for grabs at the raffle we hold at the End of Summer Reading Picnic,” Barnard said.  “We have a lot of great prizes, and some surprises for the picnic as well.”

Summer Performers will be on Tuesdays at 10 a.m. at the Wild Rose Community Center:

June 14 The Unhuggables with David ‘the Frogman’ Stokes – meet nature’s ‘unhuggables’, but don’t be surprised if you want to hug one of them.

June 21 Shipwrecks of the Great Lakes with Anne Moser of the UW-Madison.  Anne takes us on a trip on a search for the many, many wrecks on the Great Lakes – some you can walk up to.

June 28 Magician Rick Allen returns to Wild Rose. Rick is amazing and levitates an audience member for his finale.

July 12 Salmon Secrets with Joan Voigt of the Wild Rose Fish Hatchery.  Joan takes us on a trip through the life of Salmon, one of the many species of fishes found at the Fish Hatchery, world-renowned for its breeding programs.
