VITA hosts first Super Saturday Tax Event
Penny Baugrud and Ray Casper served as part of the team of CAP Services’ Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program volunteers assisting taxpayers during CAP’s first Super Saturday tax event on March 24, at the CAPsell Center in Wautoma. Super Saturday, a Thrivent Action Team project sponsored by CAP’s Connie Henn, provided a full day of free tax preparation for eligible individuals and families in Waushara County. Volunteers assisted taxpayers in preparing and filing federal and state income taxes, as well as claiming Wisconsin’s popular homestead credit. Households served on this day received a total of more than $12,000 in federal and state refunds. Henn and her team of volunteers also made computers available for self-preparation using the website MyFreeTaxes.com. Those who filed their taxes this way received a printed copy of their return as well as the safety and convenience of using a secure internet connection.
