The Tri-County School Board accepted a $31,000 donation from the Plainfield Lions during their regular school board meeting on Feb. 27.
The donation will be used towards the restoration of their tennis/pickle ball court by the Waushara County Highway Department. The remaining cost of the project would be under $50,000, which will come from the community service funds. The board approved the donation and the restoration project.
District Administrator Jamie Delikowski reported that there are currently two candidates for the current board vacancy. James Miller and Wayne Hutchinson expressed their interest in filling the open spot to fulfill the remaining term of the vacated seat. Any interviews will be held in open session.
Delikowski also informed the board that he spoke with GFL about the amount the school is paying for dumpsters. A new contract was negotiated, with the original agreed-upon amount when they first entered into the contract.
A discussion was held on the purchase of Hudl that will allow the school to live-stream their events. The board approved purchasing Hudl for two cameras for a three-year plan. District Administrator Delikowski will work with Hudl to ensure the contract will begin next school year so the school is not paying for the five months the service will not be in use.
During the athletic report it was reported that a uniform rotation has been created to start the process of replacing athletic uniforms. The rotation is based on the need and the cost for each sport. Student representative Kaila Foster reported that the students participated in Winterfest Week from Feb. 12-17. Instead of a dance, students attended a formal dinner catered by Ponderosa Pines where they were served and seated by their teachers and administrators.
Foster went on to inform the board that Tri-County hosted the CWC Solo & Ensemble on Feb. 24. Melanie Prince and Andreas Juarez earned the chance to represent their school at State.
The board received the Summer School dates, which are set for the weeks of June 17, 24 and July 8. Nine staff members have signed up for the classes, which will take place 8 a.m.-2 p.m., four days a week.
The board also accepted several donations, including: A donation from Walt’s Petroleum for the Tech Ed Department, $50,000 from Heartland Farms for the Tech Ed Department, and an anonymous donation of $10,000 to the Athletics program.
The board went on to approve: The retirement of Doreen Kruger as of June 5, the hiring of Matt Wilder as a High School Assistant Baseball Coach Step 1, Start College Now student applications and the 2024-2025 school year calendar.
The next school board meeting will take place on Tuesday, March 19 at the Tri-County District Board Room
