Tommy Bohler hired as city administrator

Following a special meeting on Feb. 21, the Wautoma City Council moved, in a roll call vote, to hire Tommy Bohler as the new city administrator/clerk/treasurer, effective, March 23. Four finalists were interviewed by city officials on Feb. 21, as well as at the special meeting.

Bohler, 27, resides in Canton, IL, a city of 14,000. He graduated from Canton High School in 2006 and attended Lincoln College in Lincoln, IL, on a golf scholarship. Bohler graduated in 2008 with an Arts Associate Degree in general studies.

He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in finance at Western Illinois University in 2010, and a Master’s Degree in public administration, with a focus on city management, from the University of Kansas in 2014.

While attending the University of Kansas, Bohler’s class schedule allowed him to work as a full-time budget analyst in Grandview, MO, and as a management analyst in Lawrence, KS, where he worked alongside their city manager. Following graduation in August of 2014, Bohler worked full-time as city assistant budget and finance director in Topeka, KS, until he decided to return to Illinois to be closer to family.
