Operating Engineers lay clay at Waushara County Fairgrounds

Operating Engineers Local 139 Instructor Ken Bork volunteered his time to help lay clay on the Waushara County Fairgrounds pulling track on Nov. 14.

Prior to starting the project, the Operating Engineers flew a drone over the area to create an aerial topography of the ground in order for a computer to create a rendering and plan, according to Bork.

According to Waushara County Fair Association President Don Nelson, the track was in need of maintenance to extend it and create a better drainage system. The clay was purchased by the Waushara County Fair Association from Lehman Trucking, with the total project costing about $8,000.

Nelson added the project might have cost twice the amount of money if the Operating Engineers Local 139 did not volunteer their time.
