Five arrested for heroin, pot in Waushara County
In late November 2014, the Waushara County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau initiated a Heroin Distribution Investigation in Waushara County.
The two-month investigation revealed Shawn Knaup, Amanda Hopp, and Bridgette Messa were distributing heroin in the City of Wautoma, Township of Dakota, and Township of Plainfield.
The investigation revealed Hopp and Knaup would make frequent trips to Southeast Wisconsin to obtain quantities of heroin and return to their residences in far Northern Marquette County. The two would then distribute heroin to several Waushara County residents, including Bridgette Messa. Knaup and Hopp were on probation at the time of the offenses for possession of narcotic drugs convictions.
In late January, the sheriff’s office, working in conjunction with the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office and the Central Wisconsin Drug Task Force, arrested Knaup, Hopp, and Messa.
The Waushara County District Attorney’s Office has charged all three suspects with felony conspiracy to deliver heroin charges.
In mid-January, the Waushara County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau executed a search warrant in the City of Wautoma at the John and Marie Knudtson residence.
Authorities discovered 21 marijuana plants growing inside the residence, along with approximately 220 grams of marijuana and 30 items of drug paraphernalia.
John and Marie were arrested on felony and misdemeanor drug charges and transported to the Waushara County Jail. John has two prior felony convictions for manufacture/deliver THC.
The City of Wautoma Police Department, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and the Central Wisconsin Drug Task Force assisted the Waushara County Sheriff’s Office with the investigations.
