Wildcats secure undefeated conference season

Wild Rose crushes Thundercats, 54-0

Wild Rose finished the Central Wisconsin Conference-Small football season with a 54-0 trouncing over the Marion-Tigerton Thundercats on Oct. 6, keeping their undefeated status and capturing the conference championship with only non-conference matchup remaining in the regular season.

It wouldn’t take long for Wild Rose to get on the board, with a touchdown and an extra point coming at 10:27 in the opening period. The Thundercats couldn’t get anything going with their possession after the score and throughout the entire period, including suffering several yardage losses.

The Wildcats had its second score of the night with 7:11 left in the first on a 9-yard run by Alec VandeCastle after Lucas Hackney picked up 8 yards on a carry. The Wildcats had a short field, starting from the Thurdercats 19. A missed PAT left the hosts with the 13-0 lead.

A third score in the period came in two plays just 2 minutes later after an incomplete pass, Tanner Deist ran 70 yards to find paydirt. A 2-point conversion pass to Travis Jansen gave the Wildcats a 21-0 cushion.

Wild Rose’s next possession came with good field position. A holding penalty didn’t slow the hosts down much as Nolan Jenkinson took the ball 59-yards on the next play to find the end zone. A missed PAT still gave Wild Rose the 27-0 advantage with 3:05 still remaining in the first period.
