Warriors win SCC tournament; take second in conference

The Wautoma/Wild Rose Warrior wrestling team topped off their impressive season by winning the South Central Conference Tournament at Adams-Friendship to compete on Feb. 2.

Even though the Warriors recorded 223 points at the tournament, Wautoma/Wild Rose would tie Wisconsin Dells for points for the conference title with the Chiefs edging out the Warriors for the championship based on criteria.

The Warriors had eight wrestlers compete in the finals, with seven out of 14 wrestlers winning first place in their weight division, including: Abram Lezama, 106 lbs.; Dylan Hughes, 113 lbs.; Creedon Abraham, 120 lbs.; Tanner Deist, 138 lbs.; Dillon Martin, 170 lbs.; Andrew Henschel, 182 lbs.; and Damean Netzler, 220 lbs.

Taking second place in his weight division for the Warriors was Lucas Hackney at 285 lbs., while rounding out the top three was Thomas Dopp at 160 lbs.

Following the Warriors first place at the SCC tournament were: Wisconsin Dells (WD), 215; Nekoosa/Assumption/Port Edwards (NEK), 159.5; Mauston (MAU), 144.5; Adams-Friendship (AF), 110; and Westfield (WEST), 83.
