Eagles fall in Regional Championship game

The No. 3 seeded Almond-Bancroft Eagles traveled to Assumption to take on the No. 2 seeded Royals for the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association Division 5 Regional Championship boys basketball game on March 3.

The two teams battled until the end as they were relatively evenly matched teams. With alternating scoring throughout the first half, the Eagles took the 27-25 lead going into halftime.

Despite the initial lead coming into the second, Almond-Bancroft wasn’t unable to keep up their momentum as the Royals started racking up points. With 3:20 left in the game, Assumption had secured a 13-point lead, their largest lead of the night, 52-39.

The second half was tough for the Eagles as they were outscored by the Royals, 29-21. The Royals clinched the regional championship title with a 56-46 final score over the Eagles.
