Rheinheimer and Lehr named WIAA Scholar Athletes

Wautoma High School seniors Alex Rheinheimer and Grace Lehr were named the 2015 Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association WHS Scholar Athletes at the senior awards ceremony held at the McComb/Bruchs Performing Arts Center on May 13.

Each year, member high schools of the WIAA are invited to nominate one boy and one girl for Scholar Athlete honors. The program, which is underwritten by Marshfield Clinic, was launched in 1984 to demonstrate the positive impact of interscholastic athletic activities.

To qualify for WIAA Scholar Athlete recognition, a nominee must have earned at least four varsity letters through the first half of their senior year and must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

In addition to local awards, 32 of the more than 800 students nominated each year are selected for statewide recognition. Four boys and four girls in each of four WIAA divisions are honored at a ceremony held on the first Sunday of May each year in Wausau.
