‘The Second City’ returns to Wautoma’s PAC on April 7

Chicago’s legendary sketch and improve comedy theater returns to Wautoma’s McComb/Bruchs Performing Arts Center on Saturday, April 7, at 7 p.m. with “The Best of The Second City.” The performance is sponsored by Moose Inn, Dogger’s Bar and Lanes, Dr. Dave Gruszka of Active Lifestyle Chiropractic, Lund’s Northwoods Auto, Johnny B’s Bar & Grill, Thrivent Financial of Wautoma & Montello, Weiland Refrigerated & Trucking and Wisconsin 106. 

It all started with children’s games. Rooted in the groundbreaking improvisational games of Viola Spolin, The Second City opened its doors on a snowy Chicago night in December of 1959, and a comedy revolution began. Co-founded by Bernie Sahlins, Howard Alk, and Spolin’s son Paul Sills, the small cabaret theater grew to become the music influential and prolific comedy empire in the world, developing an entirely unique way of creating art and fostering generation after generation of superstars.

This must-see show features the best sketches and songs from The Second City’s long history made famous by superstars like Chris Farley, Tina Fey, Stephen Colbert, Steve Carell, Gilda Radner, Bill Murray, John Candy and more – as well as their trademark improvisation.
