Black Hawk to present Curtis & Loretta in concert

Black Hawk Folk Society’s Second Saturday Series will feature headliners Curtis Teague & Loretta Simonet at 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 14, at Mountain View Community Center, N3137 21st Lane, near Wautoma, just outside Mt. Morris.

This husband-wife duo will provide an evening of instrumental expertise backed by great vocals. Concert-goers can expect original songs, plus traditional tunes from the British Isles and America—all woven together with humor and the performers’ capacity to examine the ordinary to find and celebrate the extraordinary.

Teague and Simonet met over 40 years ago and have been touring and performing together ever since. Teague’s instrument inventory includes mandocello, mandolin, guitar, clawhammer banjo, ukulele, and harmonica, while Simonet knows her away around the Celtic harp, guitar, celeste, mandolin, kazoo, and shakers. Mountain View Community Center is handicap accessible, with free and on-site parking. The evening begins with a 6 p.m. potluck supper, open to all. General admission tickets sold at the door.
