Tactical units participate in active shooter drill at ThedaCare Berlin Campus
An emergency situation Berlin Memorial Hospital leadership hopes they never have to deal with, but yet know they need to be prepared for is an active shooter situation. Every two years Robert Zache, head of security at the ThedaCare Berlin hospital, holds a drill to prepare staff and tactical units for a person with a weapon.
On April 14, 10 volunteers from the hospital and community served as victims and posed shooters. The Berlin Police Department and Green Lake Area Combined Tactical Unit conducted several drills in the lower level of the hospital. Prior to the drill, several announcements were made over the public address system announcing of the drill so visitors, patients and employees were not alarmed.
The drill was under the direction of Chad Holdorf, commander of the Green Lake Area Combined Tactical Unit, Green Lake County Sheriff’s Department.
