WR Board hears residents water drainage concerns

The Wild Rose Village Board listened to drainage concerns from residents during the July 12 meeting.

Gary Hudziak was the main speaker regarding water drainage on the south side of town where there is marshland.

Hudziak’s property is at the intersection of High Street and Cleveland Avenue and has been seeing an increasing amount of water buildup in the area despite ditching, especially with heavier rains. Area basements have been filling up more, and it’s thought that maybe some culverts are getting blocked. Hudziak and other residents are wondering what can be done to prevent this buildup in their neighborhood.

Board member Jody Jansen pointed out there is legislation being drafted for modifying wetlands to help drain extra water. He stated that other communities having the same type of problems and will check into how far along the bill is that is being drafted. In the meantime, the village will check into other possibilities of improving the water drainage.
