Wild Rose School District passes 2016-17 proposed budget

The Wild Rose School District passed the proposed 2016-17 budget during an annual school meeting and budget hearing held Aug. 8.

District Administrator Craig Hayes presented the budget to a small public audience, and elected Chairperson of the meeting portion, Sandie Anderson, thanked him for presenting a balanced budget, noting that she knew it wasn’t easy to find a way to balance the proposed budget.

The proposed 2016-17 budget is for $7,432,777.43, a $940,500.67 or 11.23 percent difference from the 2015-16 budget. The proposed tax levy, which was approved during the meeting is $5,054,672. That is an $887,754 or 14.94 percent decrease. The propose mil rate is than 7.356, a 1.330 or 15.38 percent decrease, with the state average being 10.24.
